Microcomputer Design Educational Environment City-1 on Verilog HDL and FPGA in 2002
for the junior students of the Department of Computer Engineering,
Faculty of Information Sciences, Hiroshima City University
|
A video City-1 beyond pipelining is introducing the third 3 years (2001-2003) of City-1, which is an educational course held successfully by Ryuichi TAKAHASHI in microcomputer design using field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) for junior students of the Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Information Sciences, Hiroshima City University until 2008.
|
14 students completed superscalar CISC/RISC
FPGA computers. Out-of-order completion was introduced into the superscalar CISC machines. 47 students, out of 54 students(87%), completed the entire phases in 15 weeks.
An incompletely specified two stages pipelined superscalar CISC
processor description named CISC-2SS2, which I wrote in 1138 lines for
9 modules in Verilog HDL, was given to all of the students this year
as an example.
A master's course student Masato DOI worked as a teaching assistant this
year. The ratio 87% is a result of his contribution. I also would like
to thank another master's course student Yasumasa TAMURA who was kind
enough to give us his drawing to catch up on my work to introduce a
new example description CISC-2SS2.
